[Shotimes] help with braided AN hose & fittings

Actually NOT working on the SHO at the moment, it's doing very well after the front wheel bearing replacement. Plumbing the fuel system for the Mustang, and need help. I've never messed with this braided fuel hose and the pretty red and blue -6 AN fittings before, but am quickly learning why everyone I've heard talk about it was usually cussing. Anyone have any nifty tips or tricks? I know I need to tape it before cutting it with a cutoff wheel, and the tape is supposed to come off before putting the red end on the hose (which eventually threads into its blue counterpart). This seemingly straightforward task is proving quite daunting, and any insight would be greatly appreciated!
