[Shotimes] help with braided AN hose & fittings

This is one of those "practice make perfect" tasks. I have assembled many
of these (probably several hundred) hoses and they can still prove
troublesome. Remember that the collar threads onto the hose with reverse
(right hand) threads. I clamp the hose in a vise to assembly the ends.
Screw the collar on until the end of the hose just touches the inner seat of
the collar. Then using lots of lube, thread the fitting into the
hose/collar. I like using Aeroquip hose lube.

Aeroquip has lots of info that may help at

Their performance products catalogue is worth reading with plenty of
assembly info. Download and save this ....

Justin:
I had a tough time with this too! I ended up using my Dremel tool cut off
wheels. Much smaller and easier to control. With the big air powered cut off
wheels I always had a hairs of the braid give me trouble. Could not get a
clean edge to insert the end. Also watch out for scratching the nice
anodized fittings! I wrapped tape around them before using a wrench. I have
seen a no mark wrench for sale too.

the front wheel bearing replacement. Plumbing the fuel system for the
Mustang, and need help. I've never messed with this braided fuel hose and
the pretty red and blue -6 AN fittings before, but am quickly learning why
everyone I've heard talk about it was usually cussing. Anyone have any nifty
tips or tricks? I know I need to tape it before cutting it with a cutoff
wheel, and the tape is supposed to come off before putting the red end on
the hose (which eventually threads into its blue counterpart). This
seemingly straightforward task is proving quite daunting, and any insight
would be greatly appreciated!
