You are going to get a lot of varied answers to this question. I'll
assume you have the canadian slicers.
The drivetrain is similar between 91 and 92. I lived with this problem
for close to 4 years. In that 4 year timespan, besides the usual balance
the tires deal, here's a list of things that changed on my car.
I had the knuckles changed as part of the 96 brake upgrade. This gave me
new wheel bearings. No change.
Both half-shafts were replaced, including the link shaft assembly. The
total of all these changes made a big impact but did not complete solve
the 70 MPH issue.
Replaced inner tie rods to remove some play in the wheels. Needed this go
get a proper alignment. No change to vibration at 70.
Bought new wheel/tire package upgrade. This nailed it! It is a real
pleasure to drive the car now, so I know what you are going through.
Now, what this proved to me is one of two things happened on the original
slicers. Either one or more wheels has a problem, or one or more tires
has broken internal belt. This latter thing can happen with radials. I
was able to quiet things down with the slicers by moving a suspect tire
(that was virtually brand new mind you) to the rear of the car. So if you
rotate your tires front to back and can feel a difference, that might be
the area to investigate.
