You're the first person I've heard that's been happy with the replacment foam kits.

Also, even if the foam is successfully replaced, it's still just foam!

I think I saved my first blown OEM bass driver.  I'll have to try fixing it in my free time.

BTW, I have a plethora of extra $$$ so I decided to buy a few different 6.5" drivers to put in the OEM box.  We'll see what happens.

Isn't it the foam surround that rots off and dies?
If it is, I successfuly replaced the foam surround on my large home stereo
speakers with great results for about $7.
There are foam surround speaker kits available online at partsexpress for
all speaker sizes.
