And the HEMI probably puts out as much power in 4-cyl mode as the V8-6-4 did in V-8 mode...

If you have ever seen the Rube Goldberg contraptions that were under the oddly shaped valve covers of a V8-6-4, you'd know why it was doomed from the start.
