Wait a minute I never said this. whoever authored SHOTIMES said this. I bleed Ford blue. Ford could put the blue oval on a Mazda and I'd buy it.

My original Yamaha 3.0L died at 196,000 miles. Does that make it lousy?
No. We all need to accept the fact that things wear out. If the car
means something to you and you want to keep it, you have to be prepared to
make some "car payments". That's how a friend of mine justifies spending
money on his 97 Pontiac GTP with over 150K miles.

My Taurus is still on the road thanks to an ATX donor motor. My Taurus
interior and exterior, while not car show gold class, is still in fine
shape for a 12 year old car. The premise of the car is good IMO. It is
the main reason I continue to keep it, but I'd be remiss if I didn't say
that having this community to back it, including some very good friends,
is a strong number 2.

Despite some design flaws, yes I have my list too, the fact remains that
the Taurus is car like any other and it is not immune to the laws of
physics or the ravages of time. Sooner or later things will wear out and
will need to be replaced unless you treat your SHO like a trophy car and
keep it in a climate controlled environment year round with only 2000
driven miles per year.
