[Shotimes] Intake runner horns

When I purchased the BB butterflies+intake runners many years ago, it was recommended (by ShoShop) to remove the horns. Since then I've heard that some people shorten them instead for better performance.

Does this mod improve throttle response or HP by any noticable amount?

How much should they be shortened?  Is this a simple volume calculation, i.e., since the runner volume increases by

dVrunner = (44 - 41) x pi x Lrunner

then the volume of the horn must be reduced by the same amount so that the new horn length, Lhorn_new, becomes

Lhorn_new = (Vhorn - dVrunner) / (Dhorn x pi)
          = (Dhorn x pi x Lhorn - dVrunner) / (Dhorn x pi)

and where Dhorn is the horn diameter.
