[Shotimes] crank sensor OK, IDM & SPOUT circuits OK; what the hell is left?

My ignition saga continues! I installed a new crank sensor on Sunday,
with the same symptoms immediately upon startup. Tonight I checked the
resistance on the IDM and SPOUT circuits. For reference, IDM is pin 4 on
the 60 pin connector and pin 12 on the DIS connector. SPOUT is 36 at the
PCM and 5 on the DIS. Both showed 0.1 ohm. I'd say the wiring is doing
ok, but am going to double check that the terminal in the plug is making
its connection to the DIS module and go crazy with some contact
cleaner.

Assuming all that checks out, I'm out of ideas for this thing. I'll
probably take the intake back off, yank the Autolites and check the
resistance on my plug wires. I called O'Rielly and they are now offering
the Motorcraft FM style plugs (fine wire?) rather than the PP double
platinum ones. I remember a thread about these a while back but not the
consensus - I assume these plugs are ok to use?

If anyone has any ideas whatsoever, I'd be very appreciative!
