[Shotimes] Redundant radio control

Hi Frank, Yes, the Seek button usually doesn't work. Sometimes the volume increase doesn't work
and that is cured by tapping decrease first. When I had the dash apart to replace the lamp for
the clock, I looked at those remote controls and they all seemed to work so I let them be. After
I put everything back together, all the buttons worked for a bit but then defaulted back to the
way I mention at the beginning.

Now that you say these controls are illuminated, and I can't for the life of me figure out why I
didn't fix that light too, I'm going to do some surgery to fix the light (I'll wait for your
write-up on fixing the buttons first). The other light that I know needs to be replaced is the
manual headlamp switch.

The least expensive way to do this is to buy some 18V bulbs with wire leads and simply replace the
existing burned out bulb in the plastic base by wrapping the wires around the base. 12V bulbs are
not a good idea since the alternator usually puts out more than 12V to the electrical system and
this will overstress the bulbs. I used an 18V bulb as a replacement in the foglamp switch over 7
years ago and it still works fine.

> Quick question for everyone--when your redundant radio control fails, which button is it that
fails? I finally figured out what was wrong with mine (and the junkyard replacement) and was
able to figure out how to fix it. It seems to be an inherent flaw in the design, which is why I
think that everyone is having a problem with the "seek" button only. Am I right? I'll try to
put together a repair write-up for the Shotimes FAQ. I just love solving problems like this!
