If you intend on keeping the car, I highly recommend a NEW dessicant/dryer
line, and having the system professionally vacuumed out and charged. Without
doing both of the above you will still have some moisture in the system,
which will eventually turn the freon into acids, and eat up the compressor,
evaporator, etc. AKA "black death" or "black goop"
If you have the where withall to vacuum it out yourself, go for it! That's a
very key step.
There are $10 vacuum adapters available, that attach to an air comprressor,
that are noisy but do work.
