[Shotimes] exhaust question

I would honestly do the y-pipe first. The cats are a major restriction, and
damaged cats will *@($ your engine up a lot more than damaged mufflers will.
My exhaust pipe gave up the ghost at 104K... separated at the bend under the
back seat where the pipe changes diameters. The weld just didn't hold up.
I've heard some loud exhausts before, but nothing quite beats straight
pipe.... had it not been for the flex pipe, there would've been a lot more
damage than just having to weld the pipe back on.

Unless you have a really rich mixture, or you've had a couple of cylinders
out for a long time, there shouldn't really be any significant damage to the
cats, as the only thing you can really do to hurt them is to dump way too
much unburnt fuel into them. If you do replace a section, though, I'd go for
the cats first.
