Hey guys... I have a question about my alternator. Turns out that the voltage
regulator was shot, and instead of paying some schmuck to destroy it, I
figured I'd destroy it by myself. I took the regulator out of the alternator,
but the two metal... uh, slots or retaining hooks or something on either side
of the brushes kinda were soldered with another metal contact that was
apparently connected to the rest of the alternator. I managed to pry the
regulator out, but I took some of that metal with it. Is that important? As
far as I know, the voltage from othe rotor travels through the brushes through
the regulator and out the plug. Did I royally #)*% up by taking the little
metal contacts with the regulator?
