[Shotimes] hood latch --- need ideas

As you may recall, I am fixing up a SLO wagon for a family in hard times.
We have just a few issues left to address.  The main thing keeping the car
off the road is the hood latch.  Normally, two nuts are embedded in the
radiator wall, and two screws go into these to mount the latch.  One of
these nuts is gone, leaving a square hole in the sheet metal.  Do I have to
have another nut welded in?  Are there any other ways I might bolt on the
latch?
