Duh....I just got up, and I forgot this point...Dave's primary argument in our
discussion.
The thing about the factory spacer plate is that it is in one piece, and as such
will help (along with the camber plate on top) prevent individual movement of the
various flaps of the tower, if they have been cut. Separate washers will move the
strut down, eliminating the squeak, but would not prevent possible lateral
(sideways) movement of the various flaps. The 1 piece plate makes a more secure
'sandwich'. The studs would be the victims of lateral movement....they could
possibly shear.
Somebody invent some adjustable length LCAs, or an adjustable inner joint for
them!!!!
