[Shotimes] Futura... was: If Ford Asked you ...

The Futura name originated on a 1955 Lincoln concept car that eventually
became the Batmobile in the '60s Batman series. I'm not really sure that
fact helps with the anxiety over the name however...

Just like most every name Ford, and GM and MoPar, had was ruined in the
mid-70's to early 80's. Futura, LTD, don't get me started on LTD II,
Mustang II, etc.

A '65 Falcon Furtura convertable with a 289 and a 4-speed would be quite
the cool auto to have right now. And rather expensive to buy a good one
these days...

Accepting what you say, it only seems the "Futura" name was dragged through
the mud in the late 70's. I could walk up to a modern, well-made car named
"Futura" and the name itself would be the biggest obstacle for me.

The Futura was a very nice sport/luxury version of the
Falcon, and the Falcon, believe it or not, was a decent
little car in a time when little cars just didn't sell.

Decent 60's era Futura Falcons are sought after jewels of an
era that didn't need little cars but made them anyway. And
then there were the few drag Falcons with the 427 that did
the Thunderbolt one better!
