Paul: "Non-chlorinated brake cleaner or Chemtool B12. The brake cleaner is
cheaper. You can also use the gel type paint remover."
Please remember I'm an old dawg and mostly worked on motorcycles and pre '60s
iron lately until just getting my SHO, and don't get mad at me asking. I
always heard even though brake cleaner does a hell of a job, never use it on
carbs or anything internal to the intake system. Vapors from residue can cause
nasty detonation on startup, or some such. That convinced me way back when, so
I never tested it, BTW ;-)
Is the "Non-chlorinated" spec the relevant piece that I'm missing, or is that
more related to the fact that it's being used on aluminum? Just trying to
broaden my eddification, since I too am planning to buff up my intake as part of
the topside 60k "real soon now".
