It is a fairly easy job- first, of course get the seat out of the car, then
take off the trim pieces, there are a couple bolts on either side at the
pivot of the seat, thus you can pretty much separate the backrest from the
seating cushion, except for the tubing for the bolsters and lumbar. I'm
pretty sure you can just disconnect that and then reconnect when and if you
put the seat back together, otherwise grab your Recaro milkcrate and throw
it in there.
There are white plastic clips on the cushion area underneath lip. These
pretty much secure it onto the frame surrounding the cushion, the two major
ones are the front and back, and they also run up either side. BE VERY
CAREFUL with your hands under there feeling around because the metal edges
from the factory press cuts are still razor sharp! Trust me , you won't even
feel the cut, and then you'll pull out a very messy hand.
Pretty much the only thing that is holding the leather to the cushion once
you have the material unsecured are hog rings at the bite lines of the
leather seams. Just cut them off with wire cutters. You can get a large box
of them for 8 bucks or so.
For the back, remove the headrest. The bottom of the backrest has a zipper
that you can undo and then just roll the fabric up to the headrest area. I
don't belive that there are any hogrings in the backrest area. The only part
you want to be careful with are the tubes for the lumbar and bolsters. IIRC
there is a t-junction where the tubes meet that you can undo to prevent
damage to the tubing connections as you do the pushing and pulling of the
various pieces, fabric, etc.
Hope this helps.
