Worn Throw Out Bearing (TOB) and pressure plate. Reverse will require
patience but here's the grind-free method: allow the car at least 5-10sec of
stand still time before entering reverse, and shift into 2nd or 4th before
throwing it in reverse. As the TOB and pressure plate wear, the clutch
assembly will gradually generate more and more problems, therefore immediate
replacement is recommended. You'll begin to work against your transmissions
syncro's and gears. This is more or less the long term effect, but since you
aren't aware of how bad it has gotten, it's something to keep in mind. NOTE:
Shifting into other gears, such as 1-2shifts while driving, might require
shift lag to prevent grinding/damaging syncros...
Hope this helps...

Subject: [Shotimes] Newbie with a clutch question
Hi all, newbie/lurker, I'm looking at a '91 SHO. Man
say the clutch is bad. I spoke to him on the phone
this evening and it won't do reverse very well. In my
research and looking at the sites on the SHO I'm
thinking maybe the clutch cable is streched/out of
adjustment or the quadrant is screwy instead of the
clutch... Other wise a very nice car for the price,
I have no problems doing a clutch if need be. Any
thoughts?
Thanks, Eric
