Not from the nostrils, which intersect a short, vertical bore that is also
capped by an allen screw (the opening of this bore faces downward with the
intake installed). A horizontal bore (capped by the allen screw you tried to
remove) runs from the EGR area to the above-mentioned vertical bore.

Not very well. You need to find a 3/8th's drive allen wrench, a breaker bar,
and some penetrating oil. Remove the EGR valve from the intake and pull the
intake off the engine. Now you can get to both the allen screws and have a
straight shot through the bores behind the allen screws. This doesn't clean
the the nostrils though. To do that, the best solution IMO is to separate
the intake into three main assemblies, so you can attack the nostrils from
the left side and go clear through and out the right side with a twisted
wire brush (see McMaster-Carr) and a generous helping of carb cleaner.
