Im a lot smaller scale than Al, Al has always been the go to guy.. Time wise
Im only able to get to so many auctions or spend the time on the Internet
with the online auction companies.
Seeing Al is going out and I think this is to Bad to see one of the GOOD
guys leave, Ill do what I can to take up some of the slack. I only had 27
parts cars last year to supply parts to people, this year I have not had a
single car as of yet..
I let the last two of them go, 1 was a 96 cam failure and was beat, they got
3300.00 for it.. that is way to much for a 96 with the miles and in the
condition it was in. Other was a blue 95 MTX which a lot of people want,
but somehow I lost that one too, it was wiped out real good with the trunk
being lodged in the back seat they still got over 1000 for it..
Parting cars is not a "great" business. Take the ave cam failed car.. You
pay 1000.00 plus shipping, plus the disassembly costs, disposal fees and
storage your looking at almost 1500-2000 for the car. Then you are asked to
sell parts from the car where you cant make money at it. I mainly use this
and motor mounts that I make as a time filler. Storing the caucus too for
future parts sales are out as well, because you never know all the parts
that someone needs. I was asked for a door handle spring for a gen 2, I was
told that they could get one for 5$ and wanted to see if I could beat the
price.. Well you know me I said sure Ill do it for 4.00 but 50.00 for labor
to tear in to the car to tear it down for the part that was requested.. Im
sure AL ran into this as well as the cars can be had for 100.00 now and16 yr
old "Johhny" has no other income so its 5$ more then he had. Its hard to
compete with that.. But it is America.
Anyway .. Good Luck Al and thanks for the parts that I have received from
you in the past.. Will you be attending this years convention?
