If it's like the Ford C-6 I had in my '69 Country Squire, it means that it's
beginning to fail. A piston that controls shifting was failing, and it would slip
out of gear in turns when it was cold. After it warmed up, it was OK. I had it
rebuilt. The person that rebuilt it said I'd save money on parts if I rebuilt it
before it totally failed, which might take a couple of weeks or a month more to
occur.
That was in 1975. Trannys might be different now than then, but that was the story
then.
