Try this locate the shift cable clip at the transmission with the car OFF have someone put it in D and turn the wheels and watch that clip end of the trans. See if the engine and trans is moving in it's cradle. It may only be slight. but enough to take the locked shift cable and move it against the selector lever enought to disengage D. If that's what is going on. your looking at a bad transmount and the solid mount from the passengerside of the trans to block is loose. All I can say about this is I left the lower trans mount and that plate loose on a engine swap I did for a friend. Got in a hurry and he had the same turning problem.
