Worn out tie rod ends normally manifestt hemselves as looseness in steering, not clunking. Clunking is most often due to worn out sway bar end links.
Inspect the ball joints first to make certain they are also not worn out.
Make certain you inspect the inner joints while you have the outers disconnected from the knuckle. A bad outer will easily mask an also bad inner joint and may cause you to have to get the toe adjusted more than once.

Tie-rod ends. I was hearing a clunk up front, and was doing my front brakes
when I noticed these suckers are pretty loose. So replacement is in order
on both sides. Do the gurus know anything I should know about up front to
keep from getting bit in the butt?
As always, thanks for y'alls advice.
