[Shotimes] OT - Computer- to turn off or not

Generally speaking, with Win9x, you won't see any improvement in performance
once you get over 128 MB. MicroShaft themselves admits to this being a
problem, and is well aware of lockups on machines with 512 MB or more.
Between 128 and 256 MB performance only increases moderately. You won't see
double the performance just because you doubled the RAM. Anything over 256
will actually slow the system down in most cases. When Win98 first came
out, most systems were running 32 to 64 Mb of memory & 128 to 256 sticks
were $$$ and found only in servers. MicroShaft's response: give us another
$200 and we'll sell you our next OS.

Atleast Ford made good (eventually) with our clutches and I seem to remember
Cobra owners a few years ago complaining about low power output and Ford
remedied that situation (eventually) by installing new exhaust and a new
ECM. Imagine Ford or any auto mfr telling you to "wait a few years and
we'll get it right, just give us another $30,000".
