At least in the North American market.  Ford of Australia has most
definitely embraced the performance sedan.  The Falcon GT-P sounds like an
awesome ride!

Speaking of such things - one of the Mazda 6 forums I'm on has a rumor
floating around that Toyota is going into a joint venture with Holden (GM's
Aussie sub) to build a new Avalon based on the Holden Commodore with the
possibility of using the Gen IV V8 (LS1/LS6).  Supposedly this isn't the
first time a Holden Commodore has been rebadged as a Toyota.  I believe the
model was called the Lexcen.

I don't know much at all about the history.  I do have an impression
that there is some cult following out there and may be some
aftermarket stuff for it.  Not sure.  Try racing and one and you
might be surprised.

The Marauder is not a SHO for sure.  And to the point about Ford
getting their clock cleaned, they first need a clock.  They've never
really embraced the notion of the performance sedan since Don
Peterson was in charge.
