The people on the TDI list can't show any proof. All the proof is "I've
heard" or "My cousin's nephew's sister thinks".
Did you notice any change in mileage?

Paul, If people with your car say that, then maybe it's true. I
would guess that the issue might be overall weight of tire/wheel
package you have versus the wider setup. You might want to ask
about that specifically.
I recently did this very upgrade if you recall. The weight of the
16x6" wheel and 215/60 tires on the stock slicers is about the same
as the new package I bought that had 17x7.5" wheel with 235/45
tires. The car is probably quicker at least at launch because the
wheels hookup better due to the wider contact patch.
