What about the Mazda 6 Sport Wagon?  220HP V6, 5 speed MTX, excellent
suspension.  They sticker at around $25k nicely equipped but I'm sure they
can be had much cheaper with a little artful negotiation.  And it's still a
Ford!

p.s.  If I lived in Texas, I would call my SHO wagon a "Shooting Brake."
That's the term they use in England for a wagon.  In Texas a "Shooting
Brake" would be a pun.
