Those of you who claim to like "real racing" and be interested in such, can
put your $$ where your mouth is and help out when we (hopefully) are able to
compete in the USTCC in '05 with a gen3 (or possibly gen4) chassis with a
3.2L V6 SHO and 5speed.
Ron posted the link the other day (www.ustcc.com) where Don M. had contacted
the series director several weeks ago asking about the SHO possibly running.
I swapped several detailed techie type emails concerning some SHO stuff soon
after, and behold we have the green light for the SHO (specifically the 3.2L
MTX combo) to be considered "legit" and compete. The first stage of this
(for me) is to get the 89 down to the exact series spec weight, and on the
series spec tire (toyo RA-1 on 17" wheels, ugh) and test at a handfull of
the tracks to see if we are in the ball park for lap times. If we are, then
it's full green light with a new gen3 chassis (they want newer bodies/models
in the series) project (anybody want to buy a cage'd 89 chassis for track
work? :)
At the least I hope to run 2-3 events in '05, would be cool to be able to
run the whole east coast season (7 events) if we can get the SHO community
behind it with help to get it off the ground, could be a fun gig. And yes
it's real racing <g>
Stay tuned, I think we'll know by the fall if things are a full blow
"go"....
