yes, actually

The V8 is lighter, but due to the stock hp rating and the series rules,
you'd have to carry almost 200 lbs of extra ballast in the car, where the V6
should pretty much the same power, have more rpms to play with, and be 200
lbs lighter. We looked into this, but with our collective experience and
spare parts bins, the V6 and MTX-IV is the better choice.

The open exhaust V8 would get 10/10 on an audio scale though, as it is we'll
have to live with the fart can sound of the V6 :)

The gen4 is my first choice, simply for looks. But gen3 may be easier to
work with (rules-wise) due to some brakes and other misc vary rules.

Basically you gotta take the rule-book, and work with the pieces that give
you the best advantage, and throw looks and form out the window. It's all
function ;) The gen4 front grill opening (slightly larger than the gen3)
might would work better for cooling, but the gen3 may be fine.

The Pole at Summit Point last year (or 2 yrs ago?) in a WRX was like
1:25.xx. I can run right around 1:30 in my 89 now, and it's approx 400 lbs
heavier than what it would be in the series, so I think if we dial in the
weight, and tweak it out a little more, we should be ok.
