PC? That's so 90's. <G>
Isn't it grand how our society in American went from PC in the 90's to the
Shock Jock culture of the 00's? Now instead of trying NOT to offend people,
we do our damndest to offend as many people as possible. Talking about
things that were once considered Taboo is now the "in" thing to do. Some
people will point fingers at the likes of Howard Stern or Mancow, but
they're just easy faces (or rather voices) to associate the mentality as a
whole with.
Not complaining or anything, as I kind of like this little revolution. The
PC stuff was starting to breed people that got offended just for the sake of
being offended so they could tell the person "offending" them that they were
a bad person because they offended them.
If you get offended at something, that's your fault, not someone else's.
And if someone is intentionally trying to offend you, why get offended,
doesn't that mean you're letting them succeed anyway? Don't give them that
satisfaction. They're just words anyway. The word "Nigger" didn't drag a
black man several miles down a dirt road tied to the back of a truck. A
couple of guys with very distorted perceptions of the world did that.
Plus our current Gen Y (or Z or whatever it is for youths these days)
subculture uses insults as terms of endearment. In a way they're mocking
the entire concept of Political Correctness.
