Welcome and congrats on your new acquisition.

Doing the clutch will give you access to the rear main seal (have to
remove the flywheel). It would also make accessing all the oil pan
bolts easier.

Another place that leaks oil a lot is the valve cover. You need to
remove the intake to take care of that problem.

About the oil filter, I find that if you remove the filter before
you drain the oil you get much less mess. This is one of the
easiest cars I've ever changed oil on.

About getting oil on the flywheel, it happens, but not from an oil
change. I have the following theory that applies to the 2 SHOs I
have. Drivetrain vibrations from say out of balance tires or out of
round wheels or bent axles will cause the engine seals to leak. A
type of cause and effect. Here are the two examples.

#1. The last clutch job on my 92 was done because the clutch was
slipping at high RPMs, basically when the car was getting into its
higher HP and TQ range. After disassembling the clutch, the
bellhousing in the tranny was coated with this emulsified gray goop
which is a combination of oil and water that coated the disk, PP and
flywheel. Coincident with the new clutch I decided to replace the
passenger halfshaft and link shaft assembly including the support
bearing. This cured a nasty vibration at speed. I have not had
further oil leaks from that area of the motor.

#2. The 95 MTX has a Hi Revs Jr clutch that is also slipping. I
know the car is leaking oil. The 17" Primax wheels on this car are
clearly out of round and are crap. The drive is not at all smooth
as it should be. Before I actually replace the clutch, I am going
to buy a new tire/wheel package to remove the vibrations.
