No, no, no, no, NOT silicon dielectric. You need a "thermal compound" like
the stuff used between your CPU and its heat sink.
The back of the DIS may feel smooth, but it's not. The mounting boss
surface on the crossover tube may feel smooth, but it's not. On a
microscopic level the two surfaces are full of peaks and valleys. When the
DIS is mounted on the crossover tube you get 50% surface contact at best.
When a VERY THIN layer of thermal compound is used between the 2 surfaces
the valleys are filled and a much larger surface contact area results.
Silicon dielectric fills the valleys but does not have any thermal transfer
abilities.
You can get thermal compound at CompUSA and the like. It costs about $1-2
for generic stuff, or a few dollars more for compounds that contain small
metal particles (Silver, or Aluminum, or Copper).

You can get Permatex brand silicon dielectric at AutoZone, but it's not what
you want in this application. If you used the silicon dielectric DIS,
remove it by lightly sanding and/or electrical contact cleaner spray (or
brake cleaner should work, too).
