[Shotimes] Gen2 door on a Gen1

I have a 91 that needs a right front door immediately.  I just got a good
door from a Gen2.

I think I can sort out the minor wiring difference (one of the connectors is
different -- Gen1 has two conductors, Gen2 has four wires going into three
terminals).  This is a winter driver so I don't care about having a Gen1
mirror on the left and a Gen2 mirror on the right.  My questions are about
the INSIDE door handle:

-- It is not obvious how the Gen2 interior handle is attached to the sheet
metal.  Anybody know?

-- Might I be able to swap in the Gen1 handle (and maybe the linkage)?

-- If I can't swap the handles, I could live with having one door with a
Gen2 trim panel in an otherwise Gen1 interior.  Will I burn in hell?  I can
already hear Andy Angermeier saying "It's not stock!"

Any advice welcome.
