[Shotimes] Tokico Warranty

I spoke with Performance Plus today about the warranty for my front
struts.  Different from last time where I exchanged the entire
strut, this time I'm told that the Tokico's use an insert that can
be replaced.  I was probably told this at the time (5 years ago) but
the inserts were probably not available so it was easier to just
swap the whole strut.

While the whole strut is not available from Tokico (until the end of
June I understand), the inserts are.  I don't think my housings are
in bad shape.  Are there any pitfalls to replacing the inserts I
should know about?  I've already been warned not to damage or chafe
the shaft.
