That is a HUGE "if" you can remove the tension strut nut!!
If someone can't pry out the strut without removing any other suspension
parts (doable probably 80-90% of the time), then I would do Paul's subframe
drop. Again, for those of us in corrosion country.
For all of the easy stuff that George has on his CA cars, ask him about
removing suspension pieces from Kris Angermeier's WI car at the Madison
Convention!!

I trust you that your method works. But if you can remove the tension
strut nut and bushing the job is that much easier, and you don't even have
to disconnect it from the knuckle. Just that little added stress relief
is enough to just put your foot on the knuckle and and with your weight,
knock the strut off.
