[Shotimes] Pontiac unveils SHO successor?

"Properly set up" doesn't mean studded snow tires, it means good a/s tires
on both vehicles, or both with snow tires, or both with studded tires.

In your example, you "think" the SHO does better than the 320i. Let me give
you a REAL example.

In 1989, I buy a new SHO. My fianci (now wife) buys a new Mustang GT 5.0
5-speed. Less than a year later we move to Chicago, and both get new
all-season tires on each of the cars (same brand & type). The GT 5.0, IMHO,
was superior in the snow & slush overall. Certain things the SHO did better,
other things the GT did better, but overall I took the Mustang out when snow
was the worst.

You ask which accelerates better? Frankly, measuring pure acceleration rates
in bad weather is not the most relevant example for me. It isn't always "how
fast" it accelerates, it's "how" it accelerates. FWIW, I would bet on that
GT 5.0 on a race against the SHO in bad weather snow/slush.

It would seem logical that when comparing FWD to RWD that we compare apples
to apples to as large an extent as possible. Or at least compare green
apples to red apples, no?

Thus, comparing a regular SHO to a "properly" set up RWD, just doesn't make
any sense IMO.

So from this viewpoint, let's examine the following cases:

1) A representative out-of-the-box FWD car from 1990, e.g., the Ford Taurus
SHO, with a representative out-of-the-box RWD car from 1990, e.g., the BMW
320.

Which accellerates and handles better in the snow???
I think SHO does.

2) Same scenario as in (1), but now adding studded winter tires.

Which accellerates and handles better in the snow???
This might be a tie. Though, I would think the SHO accellerates better, but
the BMW handles better.
