I happen to have a pair of 100/80W bulbs that have KOREA stamped on the
side.  The bulbs are blue.  I assume if one goes to the trouble of
upgrading the wiring harness, that such bulbs don't make a lot of sense.

I owe all that I know to Paul Nimz. At any rate the reason one would upgrade 
is to simply get the purest amount of power to the bulb. Your Korean bulbs, 
when used in conjunction with any high quality harness, will produce more light 
and that is a good thing.
I originally spent the big bucks for PIAA 9007's. On the way to Mallinson 
Ranch couple of years ago, I blew one of them. As this was a gathering of sho 
owners, I deceided on a little trickery. I changed the burned out bulb with a 
sylverstar (1/2 the price of the piaa's) Back to the Ranch and pop quiz time. 
Nobody in the throngs were able to tell the difference between the two bulbs. 
Hence, I now use silverstars with my harness arrangement.
