How are you going to know though, without assembly, checking, and then
pulling everything apart again?  Sounds like a lot of work to me.  Are you
having a hard time finding shims?  Doesn't Josh rent them?  That would be
the way to go.

If installing the +20's or +40's use THIN shims initially...it'll make it
much easier to check/adjust with the new cams.  Since the base circle is
smaller, it puts the cam body much closer to the shim/bucket, so it's harder
to work with the tools, etc.

With the 3.2L in the 89, which used 2400-2500 series shims from the factory
(I had used thicker to shim them tighter with the stock cams) the +40's took
stuff down to 2300 range.  Up into the 2400 range, some in the 2500 I think.
I exhausted my 2300 series stuff though, save for a couple of shims.

All that work and I was still getting passed on the backstretch by the 400
hp club like I was parked :)
