I was having a hard time picturing this last night when I was writing it for Mark. 
When I remove axles, I definitely separate the ball joint from the knuckle, and use
it to hold the knuckle in place while I am fiddling with the axle.  I need to do
this again to remind myself whether I do in fact leave the tie-rod end
connected....I'm not sure I do.
