[Shotimes] Clutch Replacement?

Sounds like classic SHO clutch failure symptoms. New clutch time. Either
worn fingers, worn bearing, warped disc, warped pressure plate, or worn
cross-shaft bushings, all of which cause disengagement issues. Trans should
"spin-down" in neutral after a couple seconds and go into reverse
(non-synchro) without grinding. Steady grinding indicates non-release
issues.
However you can try this and you may get lucky. The correct clutch
engagement point is halfway up from the floor. If your adjuster is not
putting it there, you can adjust it sort of manually. Depress clutch, hold
green adjuster/cable with finger (not easy) then raise pedal by hand 2-3
inches for one or two clicks at a time. Raises engagement point. If you go
beyond the center engagement, raising the pedal to the upper stop with toe
should reset things.

Subject: [Shotimes] Clutch Replacement?

> Hello,
>
> I'm having an issue with my 93 SHO MTX. Shifting into first and reverse
gears is difficult. I did the pull up on the clutch pedal and push the
plastic gear forward to make sure the pedal was adjusted properly. The
clutch starts grabbing right off the floor. I also changed the MTX fluid.
It seems like perhaps the clutch is just barely dis-engaging. There is no
slipping of the clutch in any gear. Does this sound like it's time to
replace the clutch? Are there any other things I should look at before
taking the plunge?
