[Shotimes] code question

Sounds like a cam sensor.


NB2 CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 212: CHECK FOR OTHER 
DTCs


Continuous Memory DTC 212 indicates a loss of IDM input to the PCM.

Possible causes:

-- Open circuit.

-- Shorted circuit.

-- Damaged ICM.

-- Damaged PCM.

 CLEAR Continuous Memory DTC 212 (Refer to Quick Test Appendix, +Section 
5A;).

 Attempt to start vehicle. If vehicle is a No Start, GO to Pinpoint Test 
Step +AB1;.

 Run engine for 5 to 10 minutes, exercising the throttle.

 Rerun Key On, Engine Off Self-Test and record Continuous Memory DTCs.

 Is Continuous Memory DTC 212, 214, 215, 216, 217 or 232 present?

Yes
For DTC 212:
GO to Pinpoint Test StepNB3.
For DTC 214:
GO to Pinpoint Test Step +DR1;.
For DTCs 215, 216, 217 or 232:
 REFER to +Section 8A;, Electronic Ignition Diagnostics.

No
GO to +Section 8A;, Electronic Ignition Diagnostics, with DIST tester for 
intermittent diagnosis.



DR1 CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 214: WILL ENGINE START?


NOTE:
Key On Engine Running (KOER) DTC 244 (for Probe only) indicates a Camshaft 
Position (CMP) Sensor DTC 214 has been stored in Keep Alive Memory. This was 
detected during Cylinder Balance DTM.

Continuous Memory DTC 214 indicates an error has been detected in the 
Cylinder Identification (CID) input signal. The error could be due to a hard 
fault or an intermittent condition.

Possible causes:

-- Open or shorted harness.

-- Damaged Camshaft Position (CMP)/Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

-- Damaged Ignition Control Module (ICM) (if equipped).

-- Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

l Will engine start?

Yes
GO to +DR2;.
