[Shotimes] 98 Contour brakes??

I still go with something whacky in the suspension, but you might try
replacing at least both front rubber brake lines. They're cheap, and a flare
nut tool makes an easy job easier. You'll have two new brake lines (they are
getting up in age, anyway), but I suspect that it will still do it.

Took your advice Ron and replaced the front right caliper. Bled the
brakes and still nothing. ?????

I almost suspect that it's not the brakes, but rather the alignment or
suspension.

The only brake-related issue would seem to be if the RF caliper is
leaking
around the piston a bit and not providing full braking power. If not the
caliper, maybe the rubber hose?

My $.02, anyway.

Hey guys,

I know it's not a SHO but you guys haven't let me down before, so I'm
going to ask you. I have a 98 Contour, which has an unusual braking
problem. About a year ago I changed the front pads and rotors and
everything was fine. Then about two months later I changed the rear
shoes and afterwards noticed the car would pull slightly to the left
when you would brake. Since then I've tried everything to think of to
fix the problem. I readjusted both rear brakes, but that didn't help.
Also when you use the parking brake to slow down it doesn't pull, so I
figured it wasn't the rear. I've replaced the tie rod ends on both
sides, the wheel bearing and lower control arm on the right ( seemed a
little worn), and lubricated the hell out of both to ensure they weren't
sticking. Now today I thought I'd try replacing the rotors and pads
AGAIN in the front and the damn thing still pulls to the left. It only
pulls when you brake; the harder you brake the harder it pulls. I also
inspected the calipers and they appeared to be ok. I even sanded off
the rust that was on the out side and checked inside the boot. Seemed
ok, nice and shiny (no rust). I also noticed quiet a bit of grease all
over the Right side wheel hub. Not sure where it is coming from, all
the boots check out. The left side rotor did look like it had extra
wear on the backside though (like it was digging in really hard). What
the hell could be wrong with this thing? Please help!

Thanks a lot,
Shaun
