AJ

I have a '93 ATX, and upgraded the computer & got ted's chip, just like Steve,
and really like the change. I am currently working on 130,000 miles, and still
have the original ATX in it (keeping my fingers crossed)

Steve- check at what RPM your ATX shifts at, cause with Teds chip and hard
acceleration, It won't get up to 7,000 rpm any more, and I wonder if its me or
what???

thanks
Bob

  Aaron,

There are many people more qualified than I am to tell you what
specifically was changed from the H3Z ('93 ATX computer) to the D4U.

Simply, the transmission shifting was improved. The '93 ATX is
notorious for having a "sloppy" 1-2 shift. The ideal shift for an ATX
is firm, but not harsh. Such improvements were made in the D4U
computer. Also, there are certain aftermarket "chip" programmers who
take it a step further, making the shifts as healthy and predictable
as possible (along with host of other modifications). I chose a Ted
Breaux LPM, and would recommend one to anybody with an ATX. The one
chip I would stay far, far away from would be the "Superchip". I
borrowed one from a list member once and was not comfortable with the
shifting. Sure, the 2-3 chirp was cool, but at what expense? It was
a real "bang" going from 1-2!

It's obvious Ford wasn't happy with the H3Z, as it was used for only
one year. They must've felt the D4U was better since it was not
revised for '95. Or maybe they were just lazy and didn't care ;^)

If I'm ever out on the east side maybe I'll see you driving around!
