[Shotimes] question about brakes

well, the rubbing noise goes away when I lightly press on the brake pedal,
so I know it's the brakes, but it also goes away when I press on the parking
brake pedal... what does that mean?

The rears would not be warped....well....it's not impossible, but very
improbable.

Anyway, around here, the from rotors are $36 each in this area. I have heard
that in other parts of the country, they are as low as $25 (this is for the
'96 rotor).

I bought a rear rotor and rear PCM pads a few weeks ago. I forget the
breakdown, but the bill was $76.91 for the rotor, pads, and a qt of
Valvoline fluid. $37 for the PFCM pad set, $30 for the rotor, and $5 for the
fluid.

Front pads are $30-36 for PFCM (depends on 601s or 598s, etc).

Figure $72 for front rotors, $60 for rear, $72 for all the pads, and $5 for
fluid. Around $200 total.

well I haven't gotten anything yet, and the previous owner's brother worked
at a ford dealer so everything was done precisely by the book (even the 60K
at 60K! crazy), so it's got ford stock pads and rotors on it. I haven't had
a chance to see what shape the pads are in, but I know the front rotors are
warped; I can feel the shimmying under braking. It seems to have gone away
recently, though... not sure why. maybe they unwarped? *shrug* anyway, I
shall heed your advice and hit the AZ on the next paycheck. Any idea on what

I can expect to pay for 4 rotors and 4 sets of pads? all 4 rotors are
warped, I think. or at least one in the front and one in the back.

M/C level doesn't matter. I always fill mine up to the top, as the level
only drops as the pads wear.

AZ rotors are just fine (been running them for years with ZERO issues), but
if by the AZ "cheap" pads you mean the Albanys, those are hardly better than
cutting a hole in the floor and stopping with your feet!! For another $15
you could have gotten PFCMs at AZ, which are far better.

The sound could also be uneven deposits on the rotor (not a surprise with
the Albanys), or uneven pads. A warped rotor can be felt under heavier
braking.

I have a question (as is indicated in the subject) about my brakes... when I

take off from a start, I get this odd rubbing sort of noise from what I
would assume to be one of the rotors. It only makes this noise once per
revolution. I'm assuming this means that the rotor's warped, but my question

is - there's quite a bit more fluid in the master cylinder than the 'max'
line - like half an inch or so - would this affect or cause that symptom?
will having too much fluid in the cylinder degrade performance? BTW, this is

a result of my last bleeding operation and not paying attention to how much
fluid was going in... anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

Do the cheap rotors and pads at autozone and whatnot work well enough for a
while? I just bought a $400 plane ticket and a $1350 ring in preparation for

my upcoming engagement (yeah, you heard me right, shylo), and I have like
zilcho money for good brakes ATM, and mine are like really shot...
