There's a big difference between WILL run a 13.1 and SHOULD run a 13.1...
which, in this case, would fall under the should run a 13.1. Mustangs are
just like any other car of old age, including the SHO. The mods are normally
weak (for the most part, many don't mod the cars for true performance...
stupid mufflers and cold airs are a common "major" mod to many foolish,
foolish people) and the motors are almost always in the age of retirement.

As for a bone stock 5.0 (with a good motor, trans), it will depend on the
notchback or hatch. If you run across a notch 5spd LX, get ready to drive
your best. The GT's tend to be more sluggish out of the hole.. Then again,
you're racing them with a FWD Taurus that acts like a bad dog that just
doesn't listen, so it's all coin tosses.

My '91 w/ every option minus the + option and moonroof ran a 14.84 bone
stock... On a 225/55R16 Potenza S-02PP... The 60k was performed 3k mi before
that timeslip. My current '89 w/ the hi comp 3.2 and pretty much all the
bolt-ons ran a 14.74.. LPM unplugged (I didn't realize that until I left the
track.. LONG story) As for the car now, I can pass (stock) WRXs at highway
speeds (not enough out the hole grip or encounters to tell what a stand
still race would sum up) and have beat many '99+ GTs... even non-SCd Cobras.
None of these races were from a standstill... Not enough people think the
Taurus is worth their risk of a DR ticket.

A 5.0 with heads 3.73 and intake will run 13.1 or better.
