[Shotimes] Rod bearing question

I am replacing my clutch.  The clutch itself was not to bad, but the throwout
bearing was toast.  While I am in there I chose to do the rear main seal and
carrier gasket.  I also decided to do the rod bearings as preventive
maintenance. I assume that I have to remove the main bearing support bracket
to get access to the rod caps.  Is this correct? Also I was questioning
whether or not I have to have the flywheel resurfaced.  It has some spots on
it(not pits) but is very smooth.  Will resurface be of any advantage?
