[Shotimes] Speaking of tires..

The key question for me is how do the ExtremeContacts perform in the
dry/wet/snow? That's my main criteria. Yeah, a balance issue can be bad, but
I've heard this about many tires, and I suspect the individual tires rather
than a whole brand.

I'm leaning toward the P Zero Neros, but if I could get myself to go to
Belle Tire, they do carry the Toyo Proxes 4s, which I might consider (bad
experiences with Belle Tire many years ago). The RE950s have gotten "OK"
comments, even though the Tire Rack survey rates them pretty high. I'm
taking Bridgestone RE92soff of the car, and not too keen on giving them the
business!!

Personally, I'd cross the ContiExtremeContact tires off said list.

I have them in the 225/55/16 (Gen3 wheels) on my '93 and am not impressed.
Sure, the price was right, but that's about all I can say for them. I've
had a helluva time keeping them balanced. Also, I think it was Larry Eck
that alerted me to this, they seem to get minor "flat spots" while sitting
around all day. Until I get a couple miles on mine after work (after
they've sat in the sun all day) they actually seem flat-spotted.

Strangest thing I've ever felt. I can't explain why, but I'm not the first
that's noticed this.

Anybody want a good used set of Contis? ;^)

My buddy was so impressed with his RE950's on his '96 that he put a set on
his mom's '99 as well.

Currently going through this debate right now, as I want to get new tires on
the new car immediately after delivery.

The top all-season tires seem to be (in no particular order):

Toyo Proxes (Subie guys LOVE them...not available through the normal
Discount Tire or Tire Rack sources, though)
Pirelli P Zero Nero
ContiExtremeContact
BFG KDWS
Nitto 450 Extreme
Bridgestone RE950

I know that Don liked his Conti Touring Contact, but I had them and didn't
like them. The ContiExtremeContacts are speed rated, and highly rated
through Tire Rack and SHO folks.

What is the current suggested tire for all-weather
street use? I am in NJ, so I have rain and snow to
deal with.

I was using The Dunlop D60's on the 90, and was not
crazy about them in the rain.. They also did not last
very long on the front. :(

On the 95, what tires should I go with?

Thx
