[Shotimes] Shotimes] Speaking of tires..

I've been running the Conti Extreme Contacts (255/55-16)
for about a year now. They're obviously not as grippy as
my Comp TA's were, but they're a helluva lot better in the
rain and snow, and they do a more than acceptable job on
the NY, CT, NJ, and PA on-ramps highways and byways.
These are directional tires, they can't be rotated in the normal
manner, (they must be broken off the rims if you need to
rotate 'em). I just move 'em back to front and stay on top of
my alignment and balancing.
Nice sidewall stiffness, good wear, look cool. Also about $85-95.
Hope this helps,
Best, Bob ( BB-NYC '89)

The last two years I have run Continental Touring Contacts
on my '96. Cheap (about $90-100 per tire I think) and they
behave well enough in the dry that I ran them at Two
convention track events with pro drivers in my car also, and
they thought the tires behaved well. They also took me
through snow and ice as well as could be expected of any
all-season tire. A dedicated winter tire would be a little
better, but for year round use, these were great.
I will run them one more winter, and that will probably do
them in with about 45,000 miles or so, some of them pretty hard.
