I think that all legally sold (able to be licensed) cars 
have to be sold through a dealer.  Don't even the program 
cars that Ford employee's buy, eventually go through a dealer?

One reason is the Teamsters contract.  They have to deliver 
the cars.  Thus, this is why when you want to take factory 
delivery in America like you can in Europe, it really isn't 
possible.

You want to get your new Vette at the factory?  You have to 
really get it from a dealer in a nearby town is what I have 
heard.  That dealer can then take it to the Corvette Museum 
if you want some big delivery hoopla deal, but you still pay 
shipping to a dealer, and the car has to be delivered to a 
dealer.
