Probably. But, I suspect there is still a "point of contact" dealer for
basic things....like if it needed a tow, etc, and I'll bet that dealer gets
a cut on the sale of the car.
With the strong franchise laws that have kept car mfrs from opening company
stores, I'm sure that....especially in the People's Republic Of
California...that the paperwork had to nominally flow through a dealer, even
if Billy Ford handed Jay the keys.
Probably the same deal when Dieter Zetsche (sp? CEO of D-C) handed the keys
to a new 300C to Snoop Dogg after he left the message on the D-C voice mail
asking for one!

I think his deal was with Ford. I wouldn't be surprised if a dealer never
actually saw the car...
